Veteran actor-producer Shashi Kapoor passed away on Monday at a hospital here. He was 79 years old. Shashi breathed his last at 5.20 pm at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Dr. Ram Narain, Executive Director of the hospital, gave this information in a message to IANS
Film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Shashi is no longer there. An era is over."
Shashi was the youngest of the three sons of late actor Prithviraj Kapoor, who was the founding father of Kapoor in the film world. He was the older Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. In 2012, cataract surgery was performed.
Shashi's three children who marry Anglo-Indian theater artist Jennifer Kindel are Kunal, Karan and Sanjana Kapoor.
