Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting felicitated his current captain Steve Smith after the first Test of the Ashes series. He said that if Smith could retain the current goal then he would be called the best batting champion of Modern Era. Ponting has just featured in the list of Modern Era, Virat Kohli, who included current cricketers like Route, but he is also keeping Sachin Tendulkar, Jack Callis and himself.
Many other cricket greats have called Virat Kohli the best batsman of this era. So Ponting's words are not easily digested by cricket fans.
