             UNESCO has rated Ahmedabad as World Heritage City. The 606-year old city will now meet the benefits of other World Heritage City by UNESCO. Significantly, Delhi and Mumbai were considered to be the contenders for the World Heritage City.

- In a meeting of the Heritage Committee of the UNESCO in Kraków, Poland, it was decided to give the status of World Heritage City to Ahmedabad.



-Now technical help from international level architects for maintenance of the architecture of Ahmedabad, financial help from UNESCO



Besides, at the domestic level, the central government along with the state government will also make the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation more serious about heritage.



- To be free from encroachment, maintenance will be more attention.
