Mumbai, at the Wankhede Stadium, has released a target of 166 runs in the inaugural match of the IPL between Mumbai and Chennai. After 20 overs, Mumbai Indians made 165 for four wickets, after the loss. The usual bowling of Chennai prevented the batsmen from making big scores in Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav (43) scored the highest score for Mumbai. After this, Kunal Pandya (41) and Ishaan Kishan scored the highest score.

Suryakumar Yadav, playing for Mumbai, scored 43 runs in 29 balls with six fours and a six. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan scored 40 runs in 29 balls, with four fours and a six. In the end, Koodal Pandya scored 41 runs in 22 balls, 5 fours and two sixes in a stormy form. Shane Watson took two wickets from Chennai, Deepak Chahar and Imran Tahir took one wicket each.
