Delhi was made the capital of India on February 13, 1931. Although it was announced on 12 December 1911 by George V. After the last Mughal Bahadur Shah Zafar, Calcutta used to be the capital of the country in 1857 but after that 1911 Delhi was made the capital of India.

It is believed that Pandavas from 1450 BC settled in Delhi.

- During the British rule in 1000 AD, the rule of Mohammad Gauri and Khilji was on Delhi.

Delhi was known as Indraprastha, the capital of Pandavas.

It is believed that the reason of making Delhi the capital was that it could be easily governed by sitting in Delhi, because even before the British, the Mughals also ruled the region.
