Born in Darbhanga in Bihar, actor and comedian Sanjay Mishra had left acting after making Rohit Shetty's film 'Golmal' and started working on a dhaba by Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Sanjay's father Shambhunath Mishra was a journalist, while his grandfather was a district magistrate.

Born in Darbhanga, Bihar, when he was nine, his family shifted to Varanasi.

After this he got admission in the National Drama School in 1991 after completing the Bachelor Degree in 1989.
