The width of the Rio de la Plata is 200 kilometers. However, geographers do not treat it as a river altogether. But they say that Rio de la Plata is the Gulf, where the Uruguay and Perana Rivers meet. But, the countries of Argentina and Uruguay count it as a river. 

Actually, these are two small rivers, whose main source is the Atlantic Sea. Both of these rivers flow from different directions to the Río de la Plata. Because of this, it is counted in the world's widest river.
