The country's leading private banks have decided to impose additional charge on banking transactions or widroll more than one limit. This rule has come into effect from today (March 1).

Under the new rules, HDFC Bank will charge 150 rupees for the 5th banking transaction. The bank has reduced the number of free transactions from five to four in the branches. 

In addition, the fee for non-free transactions has been increased by 50 per cent to 150 rupees. Meanwhile, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank have also announced to levy fees on cash transactions.
